The No. 1-ranked College of DuPage men's volleyball team traveled to Whiting, Indiana on March 12 for a rematch against Calumet College of St. Joseph. The Chaparrals had previously swept the Crimson Wave on Feb. 13 in Glen Ellyn, and the result was much of the same in the second meeting as DuPage secured another sweep (25-19, 25-15, 25-23).
Twelve different players saw action for the Chaps in the victory. Adam Janowiak led the offense with six kills, while Brayden Tejeda added five. Matthew Pemberton and Max McDermott each contributed three kills in the balanced attack.
McDermott also directed the offense, recording 15 assists on the night. Coady Seidler paced DuPage from the service line with two aces.
Defensively, Nicholas Ockrim led the Chaps with nine digs. Jahir Lopez added six digs, while Seidler chipped in three. At the net, Tejeda anchored the defense with three solo blocks against the Crimson Wave.
With the win, DuPage improves to 18-2 overall and extends its winning streak to seven matches. It marks the second time this season the Chaparrals have won at least seven straight contests after opening the year 8-0.
"Our team came in with a focused effort, really limiting our errors and finding the floor often with our attacks," said head coach Tolis Koskinaris. "Good energy as expected with it being our only match this week. Our setting was on point. Big week coming up with two very competitive matches on Tuesday and Wednesday. We are looking forward to it."
The defending NJCAA champions return to action on March 17 when they travel to Waukesha, Wisconsin to face Bryant & Stratton at Carroll University. DuPage defeated the Bobcats 3-1 in their previous meeting on March 3 at PEC Arena in Glen Ellyn.
