GLEN ELLYN (Sept. 11, 2019) — Extra-minute play on a day where temperatures neared 90 degrees meant nothing to sophomore
Mia Clavelli.
All the Wood Dale native accomplished was deliver on a feed from
McKayla Garcia as she scored the game's only goal for the College of DuPage in its N4C women's soccer game against Harper College at Bjarne Ullsvik Stadium.
The Chaps dominated play, out-shooting the visiting Hawks 14-2 when the game-winning opportunity occurred. Garcia controlled a fast-break ball in the 95
th minute of play, and then fed her teammate Clavelli who beat the Hawks' goalkeeper Esmeralda Serna. Clavelli lifted the shot and kicked it above Serna's reach and the ball found its way to the net.
The victory places the Chaps at 3-1 overall and in the N4C entering Saturday's game at Madison.
The Hawks were limited to just two shots and COD goalkeeper
Lauren Diddia had just one save, occurring in the game's sixth minute. In fact, Harper was held without a shot over the final 82 minutes of play.
Clavelli led the Chaps with four shots, while teammates
Evelyn Hernandez and
Lida Hanson each had three. Garcia totaled two shots.
