Chaps hang on for 64-60 win

Box Score COD led from the beginning and then held off visting Oakton 64-60 in Region 4 men's basketball Thursday night at PEC Arena.
 
The Chaps, now 1-1 overall, are at Waubonsee on Tuesday night.
 
Coach William Anderson's team never trailed and held double-digit leads for most of the second half.
 
Leading 57-41 with 7:44 to go, COD saw its lead dwindle as the Owls found another gear with a 19-5 run down the stretch.
 
COD had its lead cut to one twice, the last with 45 seconds to go and up 61-60.  Donnell Fraley hit the first of a two-shot foul to push the lead to 62-60, and Oakton had a chance to go ahead with 40 seconds left.
 
But Keimar Marable was called for an offensive foul, and Alexie Vlahos iced the game with two free throws with 5 seconds left.
 
Drew Gaston led COD with 17 points. Fraley had 13 and Abram Ross 11. Joe Bell had eight and Vlahos six.
