COD improved to 17-11 overall heading into tonight's home match against Kankakee. First serve is 6 p.m.

The Chaps grabbed a hard-earned 25-21, 25-22, 33-31 victory over the Owls in the season series.

"Congrats to our setters, who set up our hitters tonight,'' head coach
Tolis Koskinaris said. "Both Ashley (Bylsma) and Jaime (Volz) were on it. We had a little difficulty with our passing tonight, but it's a 3-0 win and we feel good.''

Bylsma (30) and Volz (14) had a hand on 44 of COD's 51 kills for the night.

Five ties in the first set turned in COD's favor late. A 3-0 spurt gave COD a 22-18 lead and remained out front for the win.

In the second, COD never trailed and built a lead as large as 23-14 before the Oaks challenged late.

In the third, Oakton led four times at set-break, but COD rallied after the final tie, 31-31.

Cyd Martinez and
Jayde Grant each had three service aces. Martinez, leading the nation in digs, led with 20 and Volz 14.

Jillian Ross and
Grace Beacom each had a block assist.

Nearing 1,000
Keep an eye on Bylsma and Martinez this week as both are nearing the 1,000-mark in career assists and digs, respectively.

Bylsma has 965 assists through the Oakton match, and Martinez is at 932 in digs.
