Chaps can't close the gap in 75-66 loss

John Gray III led COD with 16 points and Braylen Meredith added 14, but visiting College of Lake County led for the entire second half and handed the Chaps a 75-66 loss in Region 4 men's basketball Tuesday night.

The loss snapped the Chaps' winning streak at four as they now prepare for Tuesday night's home game against McHenry County.

The Chaps (5-3 overall) could not overcome the Lancers' inside game as Jake Gibson was 9-of-9 from the field and led with 18 points. Justin St. Louis added 16 as CLC hit 54.2 percent from the field on 26 of 48 shooting.

"We were inconsistent on both ends of the court tonight,'' head coach Joe Kuhn said. "We fought back, but some poor possessions late were costly.''

COD trailed 58-46 with 7:04 to go and cut the Lancers' lead to three — 64-61 — with 3:01 to go but never got any closer.

Tylon Toliver and Jayden Dean each scored 10 for the Chaps.
