The list of NJCAA qualifiers grew Saturday as the Chaparrals track and field teams competed at Olivet Nazarene.
 
Kelly Kibler, the 2021 NJCAA D3 Track Athlete of the Year, earned a qualifying time in the 1,500 meters, running a converted mile time of 6:05.03. That converts to a 5:37.98 qualifying effort in the metric mile.
 
Patty Karpiesiuk reached a height of 8 feet 9 inches (2.67 m), and she and teammate Paulina Stachura each hit the standard in the high jump. Karpiesiuk reached 4-10 ½ (1.49 m) and Stachura 4-6 ¾ (1.39 m).
 
Karpiesiuk placed fourth in the high jump.
 
The 4 x 400 relay team of Morgan Clifford, Kibler, Lillian Buzani and Emilia Kadiyala ran 4:43.42.
 
For the men, sprinter Noah Mack won the 60 m in 7.05 seconds after running 7.06 in the prelims.
 
Sebastian Esparza (2:03.13) and Anthony Eddy (2:03.48) ran qualifying times in the 800 and Sheldon Powell (4:30.74) and Nicholas Keeling (4:36.21) reached qualifying times in the mile when converted to the 1500 standard.
 
Powell placed second and Keeling fifth.
 
Shot putter Dustyn Kocsis earned a season-best throw of 12.82 m (42-0 ¾).
 
The Chaps make their annual trip to Naperville on Saturday, competing in the Bobby Heenan Invitational.
