The Chaparrals opened their season Thursday afternoon at Elmhurst, taking on the NCAA D3 program.
 
COD, which had just one returner in Clayton Barma from a year ago, lost 7-0 and returns to the courts April 6 at Prairie State in Region 4 play.
 
Coach Jim Bowers says:
"I thought our guys played much better in the second half of the eight-game pro set. Clayton competed hard and his effort showed a great example for our new guys. We'll need more practice and working on improving our play. Look forward to getting outside and competing better.''
