The Juarez story pays off in 2-1 victory

COD freshman Anthony Juarez' scoring flurry paid off Wednesday night in a 2-1 NJCAA Region 4 victory over visiting Kankakee in men's soccer at Ullsvik Stadium.
 
The Chaparrals improved to 6-8-1, 6-4-1 Region 4 and next plays at Triton (9-5-2 overall) Saturday. Kickoff is 6:30 p.m.
 
A back-and-forth contest with COD trailing 1-0 at halftime. And though Kankakee held the lead, COD found a way to earn the victory late.
 
Juarez earned tied the game on a header, sent in from Sam Glogovsky in the 74th minute. Then four minutes later, Juarez worked near the net and offered a free look shot that found the back of the net and the Chaps had the lead for the first time.
 
COD out-shot the Cavs 15-7.
 
GK Sam Negus had four saves in his 90 minutes of work.
