And the rout was on

The Chaparrals offered their most one-sided victory of the season Wednesday night, firing off 27 shots on goal with five players earning goals in a resounding 5-0 victory over visiting Kankakee in NJCAA Region 4 women's soccer.
 
COD (6-7-1, 6-6-1 Region 4) continues play Saturday afternoon at Triton (4-6-1, 4-4-1). Kickoff is 4 p.m.
 
Mayrin Ortiz-Teutle and Lucille Sugarman gave COD a 2-0 lead inside the first 16 minutes of play, and then three second-half goals from Asa Potts, Berenice Marin and Anaitzel Huerta provided the finishing touches on the successful night.
 
Goalkeeper Corinne Myket benefitted from a stellar defensive effort, earning just one save on the night.
 
Earning assists were Sugarman, Destiny Vazquez and Potts.
 
Kankakee dropped to 1-11 overall.
