Sophomore All-American
Carmen Solis, who has carried COD all season, showed her strength in NJCAA cross country again by finishing second at Saturday's NJCAA Region 4 championship held at Lockport Township HS.
Solis ran the 5,000-meter course in 19 minutes, 7.7 seconds as the Chaparrals finished second with 44 points. Harper won the event with 28 points and Joliet JC was third with 50.
Sophomore
Alexandra Abood was seventh in 21:08.1 and Brianna Pelligrini 10th in 21:37.7.
"Our girls all ran personal bests Saturday and that's what you want to see this late in the season,'' head coach
Mallory Dominguez said. "That we can continue to progress speaks highly of the time and effort our women have put into our season. If we can continue that improvement, we should be in contention to place high at NJCAAs.''
The NJCAA championship is Nov. 9 in Richmond, Va.
