A well-played game between visiting College of DuPage and Morton College came down to the Chaps making the most of a break in their 1-0 win in the first round of the NJCAA Region 4 women's soccer tournament Wednesday afternoon.

The 10
th-seeded Chaps (7-7-3), who won their first postseason game in eight seasons, travels to Rockford on Saturday to take on the No. 2-seed and 14
th-ranked Rock Valley Golden Eagles (14-2-1) in quarterfinal play. Kickoff is noon.

At the 65-minute mark, COD delivered a corner kick from the right-side of the net. Chaparral
Lucille Sugarman sent in the kick and it was deflected by a Morton defender and through the net for an own-goal.

"It was a well-played game by both teams,'' head coach
Matt Hanna said. "Both teams limited each other defensively from beginning to end. We got a break, but in the end, it's a 90-minute game and we played very hard and determined. We took advantage of it and our season continues.''

Chaps' goalkeeper Jaydelis Mooney earned her fourth shutout on the season, and the Chaps shut down Region 4's leading goal scorer Isabella Centra da Costa, who entered play with 26 goals.

Saturday's winner advances to Tuesday's semifinal play against the winner of No. 3 Madison and No. 6 Waubonsee. Kickoff for that contest is 2:30 p.m. at the higher seed.
