Offensive flurry hands Chaps a victory

The Chaparrals came through with a dominant, one-sided control game against visiting Joliet Junior College on Wednesday, scoring three first-half goals and letting their defense take over in a 3-0 Region 4 women's soccer victory at Ullsvik Stadium.

COD, winners of consecutive games for the first time this season, takes a 4-5 overall and 4-4 Region 4 records into Wednesday afternoon's home game against Waubonsee. Kickoff is 4:30 p.m.

Joli Weigandt's shot on goal bounced out and Mariel Lara controlled the rebound for the goal and gave COD a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute.

Weigandt again came through on an assist, this to Lucille Sugarman, who delivered a no-doubter in the 28th minute.

COD concluded its scoring in the 42nd minute, thanks to a nifty shot from Asa Potts (Sugarman) in the 42nd minute.

GK Jaydelis Mongoy had five shots on goal.

COD totaled 13 shots and seven on-goal.
