College of DuPage opened its indoor track and field season Saturday in Chicago and the Chaparrals secured qualifying standards for the NJCAA outdoor championships in May.

All-American
Carmen Solis ran the 800 in 2 minutes, 31.26 seconds on the Gately Indoor facility, 200-meter surface, hosted by Aurora University. She also reached qualifying in the metric mile (1,500) after running 5:30.94 in the mile.

Sophomore All-American
Ellie Logsdon and reigning 200 NJCAA champion ran the 400 m in 1:03.14 and also anchored a qualifying 4 x 400 relay in 4:30.08.

Earning an outdoor qualifying distance in the long jump was Victoria Tarpeh, who leapt 4.69 m (15-4 ¾).

COD competes Friday at Olivet Nazarene.
Note: Solis competed Dec. 6, 2024, in the 5,000 m at the Grand Valley State Holiday Open. Her time of 18 minutes, 40.49 seconds, a personal best, met the indoor national qualifying standard. She also met the D3 outdoor standard by more than three minutes.Â
