The College of DuPage women's track and field team competed at the Grand Valley State University Mike Lints Open on Feb. 7, taking on a large and competitive field that featured both two-year and four-year programs.
Freshman
Kailee Rodeck continued her strong start to the season, leading the Chaparrals with a fourth-place finish in the pole vault. Rodeck cleared 3.45 meters (11 feet, 3¾ inches), marking another strong performance following her recent record-breaking efforts.
Thrower
Brianne Davis delivered a standout day in the field events, posting a pair of top-10 finishes. Davis placed seventh in the shot put with a personal-best throw of 10.70 meters (35 feet, 1¼ inches) and followed with an eighth-place finish in the weight throw at 13.98 meters (45 feet, 10½ inches).
Olivia Warmke also recorded a personal best in the shot put and now ranks 25th in the weight throw and 29th in the shot put among all NJCAA divisions.
On the track,
Samantha Blankenship posted a strong showing in the 3,000 meters, finishing 13th overall with a personal-record time of 12:21.27, a 42-second improvement.
Elena Kosorog and
Maureen Bluemle both competed in the 5,000 meters, finishing 12th and 16th respectively, while qualifying for outdoor nationals. Kosorog and Bluemle are currently ranked 30th and 35th in the NJCAA all-divisions rankings.
Klaudia Sztafa turned in a season-best performance in the 200 meters and recorded a personal record in the 400 meters.
Allison Browne also ran season-best times in both the 200 and 400 meters as the Chaparrals continued to see progress in the sprint events.
Head coach
Mallory Dominguez praised the team's effort following the meet.
"I'm proud of their efforts," Dominguez said. "Like the men, the running events are starting to come along now. I'm excited to have the girls and guys on separate days this coming week so we can focus on each group."
The Chaparrals will next travel to Naperville, Illinois, to compete at the North Central College Chicagoland Invite on Feb. 13–14.
