Women's Soccer blank Trojans to earn first 10 win season since 2016

Chaps carry momentum into postseason

The College of DuPage women's soccer team closed out its regular season on Oct. 23 with a 3-0 win over the Trojans of Triton College on Sophomore Night, capping a 10-win regular season. It marks the first time the Chaps have reached double-digit wins since 2016.

After a scoreless first half, Peyton Wright scored first for DuPage on an assist from Berenice Marin. Mariel Lara scored her 7th goal of the year for the Chaps with an assist from Carolina Carreon. Carreon capped off her regular season as the Chaps leading scoring, scoring in the latter minutes of the match to earn her 11th goal of the season.

Goalkeeper Brooke Cutlip was perfect on the night, securing 5 saves on each shot on goal attempt from the Trojans.

Head coach Matt Hanna was proud of his team's performance, stating, "Ten-win season, immensely proud of this group. They continue to grind and stick together. I'm looking forward to what they produce in the playoffs. I'm happy we were able to get another win on Sophomore Night to celebrate our incredible sophomores."

The Chaps are now awaiting their postseason match up, with a strong possibility of hosting a match at Bjarne Ullsvik Stadium. Stay tuned to GoChapsGo.com for updates on opportunities to support the team.
