Six Chaparrals were named to the All-Region 4 baseball honors squad in a vote conducted by region coaches.

COD finished the 2024 season with an 18-27 overall record and 17-17 Region 4 slate. The Chaps were eliminated by Region 4 champion Oakton in the postseason tournament.

Earning the honors were: sophomore INF Alex Chaltin, freshman RHP Porter Olson, sophomore OF Matt McBrien, sophomore OF Joe Pender, freshman INF Cullen Kleinsasser and sophomore OF/RHP Jason Sullivan.

The six Chaparrals honored are:

SS Alex Chaltin — Played in 34 games with 33 starts … Hit a team-leading .322 (38-for-118) … Scored 23 runs … Totaled 14 extra-base hits (10 doubles, one triple, three home runs) … Chaps top threat on the bases, leading club in stolen bases (18 of 20) … Drove in 28 runs.

RHP Porter Olson — Led team in innings (54.1) … Finished 4-3 record and 5.13 ERA … Struck out team-high 49 and issued 38 walks … Made 11 appearances and four starts.

OF Matt McBrien — Hit .309 (42 for 136) in 41 games (all starts)… Drove in 24 runs and scored 33 runs … Totaled 14 extra-base hits (nine doubles, three triples, two home runs ) … Led team in walks (25) and reached base on 15 hit by pitches.

OF Joe Pender — Hit .291 (43 for 148) and played in all 45 games in left field … Led team in runs scored (35) … Hit 10 doubles with three home runs … Drove in 28 runs … Reached base on 18 walks and 17 hit by pitches.

OF/RHP Jason Sullivan — Led team in home runs (10) … Hit .274 (26 for 95) with 27 runs scored … Hit three doubles and one triple … Drove in 30 runs … Reached base on 21 walks and nine hit by pitches … Perfect 7-of-7 in stolen base attempts … On the mound, threw 17.1 innings and went 2-3, striking out 18.

INF Cullen Kleinsasser — Hit .289 (44 for 152) in 40 games, all starts at 1B … Led team in hits, at-bats, doubles (15) and RBI (37) … Scored 27 runs … Hit three home runs.
