The Chaparrals' ninth-inning rally fell one run short in Wednesday's 10-9 loss to visiting Prairie State in Region 4 baseball.
COD (17-24, 17-18) was scheduled to play Sauk Valley today, but unplayable field conditions forced the cancellation. It is slated to complete the regular season Sunday afternoon in a nine-inning game at Lake County (15-29, 10-24).

- COD led the Pioneers 6-5 through seven innings, but PSC struck with a five-run, four-hit eighth, scoring all five runs with two outs
- The Chaps clawed back in the ninth, scoring three runs on three hits
- In the ninth, Michael Morgan led off with a single and Matthew Betancourt reached on a walk
- Anthony Titone hit a shot to left for a base hit, and both Morgan and Betancourt scored on an error from the left fielder, closing the gap to 10-8
- Two outs later, Alex Chaltin's single brought in Titone to get within a run of PSC's lead
- Run-scoring singles from Michael Morgan in the fourth, Joe Pender in the fifth cut PSC's lead to 4-2
- COD tied the game at 4-4 in the sixth, thanks to Titone (hit by pitch) scoring on a wild pitch, and Pender's RBI-single, scoring Chaltin, who singled
- Trailing 5-4 in the seventh, COD earned the lead on a one-out, two-run double from Matt McBrien, scoring Betancourt (single) and Titone (walk)
- Pender led at the plate with a 3-for-5 effort and two RBI
- Chaltin and Cullen Kleinsasser each had two hits
- RHP Mike Biscan went seven innings in his start, giving up seven hits, five runs (two earned) and striking out three
- LHP Oliver Dew struck out two and gave up one hit in a scoreless ninth
