The College of DuPage baseball team traveled to South Holland on April 8 to face the Bulldogs of South Suburban College. DuPage plated two runs in the top of the first inning to take an early lead, but the Bulldogs responded with three runs over the next three innings. The Chaparrals tied the game in the fourth and took a one-run lead in the top of the fifth before South Suburban scored three unanswered runs to secure a 6-4 victory. DuPage moves to 10-11 on the season.
JD Cumbee, Wilson Terrutty, and Nathan McBroom led DuPage at the plate with two hits apiece. Terrutty and McBroom each drove in one run for the Chaparrals. Hudson Williams, Rocco Luciano, and Matthew Betancourt each recorded one hit and reached base for DuPage.
Porter Olson started on the mound, striking out four batters over five innings pitched. Max Kalish worked the final two innings and recorded three strikeouts.
The Chaparrals host Morton College on April 9, with first pitch scheduled for 3 p.m.
