Chaps close season at Region 4 Tourney

The Chaparrals closed their season with an 11-3 loss to Oakton in NJCAA Region 4 Tourney play, after defeating Waubonsee 6-3.

COD closed the season at 18-27 overall.

COD 6, Waubonsee 3
  • The Chaps broke away from a 2-1 deficit with a four-run seventh inning
  • COD scored all four runs on two outs, thanks to three consecutive doubles
  • Alex Chaltin's double to left scored Michael Morgan (walk)
  • Cullen Kleinsasser followed with a double that scored Matt McBrien and Chaltin
  • Joe Pender ended the rally with a double to left that brought in Kleinsasser and COD led 5-2
  • Morgan got the Chaps on the board with a solo home run to left in the third
  • The Chaps added a run in the eighth on Morgan's RBI-single to right, scoring Anthony Titone (leadoff walk)
  • Chaltin, Pender, Matt Betancourt and Morgan each had two hits
  • RHP Porter Olson was outstanding, throwing a three-hitter with seven strikeouts with just three walks in his nine innings

  • COD grabbed a 3-1 lead in the third, scoring three runs on three hits
  • Chaltin put the Chaps on scoreboard with a run-scoring single to center, scoring AJ Fulscher (single)
  • Anthony Titone connected on a bases-loaded, two-out single to left, scoring Chaltin and Jason Sullivan
  • RHP Mike Biscan struck out six and didn't issue a walk in his five innings
