The College of DuPage women's soccer team continued its scoring surge, tallying at least four goals for the second time in three days in a 5-1 victory over Moraine Valley Community College on Sept. 22.
Head coach
Matt Hanna praised his team's performance. "I felt it was our best performance in regards to our attacking combinations," Hanna said. "It is pleasing to see the growth in our build-up play. I'm excited to see what this team can do as we get deeper into the season."
Carolina Carreon opened the scoring in the 13th minute, assisted by
Berenice Marin. 15 minutes later, Moraine Valley equalized with its lone goal of the night. From there, it was all DuPage.
Katie Castillo put the Chaps back in front with an unassisted goal in the 33rd minute. Shortly after the second half began, Carreon notched her second goal, assisted by
Sophia Enriquez. Castillo struck again in the 50th minute to extend the lead, and
Maria Haworth added her third goal of the season to seal the 5-1 result.
Goalkeeper
Brooke Cutlip anchored the defense with 9 saves on 10 shots.
The Chaps (5-2-1) have won back to back matches and will look to extend their momentum Saturday, Sept. 27, on the road against Kankakee Community College.
