In a back and forth, high scoring affair, the undefeated and top ranked College of DuPage football team held off the Detroit Community Christian Lions by a score of 51-31 on Saturday afternoon in Detroit. The win lifts the Chaps record to a perfect 3-0 on the season as they scored the final 14 points of the contest to pull away from the Lions.
Askia Bullie turned in a stellar performance at Quarterback for the Chaps, going 12-17 for 195 yards and 5 touchdown passes on the afternoon. Freshman
James Penley was the recipient of two of those scoring tosses from Bullie and
Ty Carlson hauled in a 70 yard touchdown reception as well. Hayden Janke led the Chaps effort on the ground with 75 yards rushing.
With Detroit driving and the game still in doubt in the 4th quarter,
Cole Hamilton put the game away for DuPage with a 102 yard interception return for a touchdown to give the Chaps some breathing room and put the game away.
The Chaps now return home for a match up with Hocking College on Saturday, September 13 at 1:00 PM.
