Offensive fire arrives just in time

Nothing sums up the Chaps' men's soccer game against visiting Kishwaukee quite like a tried and true expression: If at first you don't succeed, try, try again.

Trailing 1-0 against the Kougars for nearly the entire game, coach Zac Ludwig's Chaps peppered the opposition with an unbelievable 25 shots on goal. And in a 13-minute span, the Chaps scored four unanswered goals and went on to defeat the Kougars 5-2 in Region 4 men's play at Ullsvik Stadium.

Alexin Hernandez tied the game in the 70th minute on a feed from Alan Rivas. Hernandez went on to add another goal with Rivas again providing the assist in the 83rd minute, and then assisted Luis Gutierrez' goal that gave COD the final tally in the 87th minute.

Also scoring goals for COD were Erik Crisostomo and Rivas.

COD finished the night with 36 total shots, Hernandez totaling 13 shots and 10 on-goal.

Rivas had six shots with five on-goal.

Goalkeeper Sam Negus earned the victory with four saves.

The Chaps (4-7, 4-3 Region 4) are at Milwaukee Area TC (0-8, 0-8) on Saturday. Kickoff is 3:15 p.m.
