South Suburban 2, Chaps 1

Mariel Lara's penalty kick in the second half served as the equalizer in the Chaps' game against visiting South Suburban, but the Bulldogs answered back two minutes later and that was enough to hand the Chaps a 2-1 loss in Region 4 women's soccer Thursday night at Ullsvik Stadium.

COD (2-5, 2-4 Region 4) resume play Sunday afternoon when it travels to Moline to face Black Hawk College.  Kickoff is 2 p.m.

The Chaps were on the end of an unfortunate goal when COD's defense tried to clear the ball and inadvertently scored an own-goal in the 17th minute.

The game remained a one-goal contest through halftime until Lara's PK opportunity in the 55th minute.

COD offered eight shots on goal.
