The NJCAA Region IV Hall of Fame, Class of 2025 features one of the all-time great athletes in College of DuPage history.
Â
Football and track and field great Mike Bellamy was named to the nine-member induction class.
Â
"Mike accomplished greatness in two sports at COD and is worthy of the Region 4 Hall of Fame,'' said Director of Athletics and Recreation
Ryan Kaiser. "He's a legend in the history of COD athletics and certainly ranks among the best athletes in Region 4 history.''
Â
Bellamy is a member of both the COD Athletics Hall of Fame (Class of 2019) and the NJCAA Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame (Class of 2007). A mainstay for fellow Hall of Famer football head coach Bob MacDougall, Bellamy played on teams that won 18 of 22 games in two seasons (1986-87) at his wide receiver position and he enjoyed an All-American season as a sophomore. On the track (1987-88), he earned All-American honors and remains COD's school record holder in the 100 meters (10.36 seconds) and 4 x 100 relay for another Hall of Famer, head coach Ron Ottoson.
Â
He completed his collegiate career at the University of Illinois, where he was a second-team All-American, a first-team All-Big Ten receiver and team co-MVP in 1989. He holds records for kickoff return yards in a game, and TD receptions in a game — both against Indiana on Nov. 18, 1989. Bellamy was a second-round selection by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 1990 NFL Draft. He also played for the Indianapolis Colts, Chicago Bears and Oakland Raiders from 1992 through 1995.
Â
Mike, who earned his bachelor's degree in speech communication from Illinois, is the father of three children — Michael III, McKenna and McKoy.
Â
The Region 4 Hall of Fame originated in 1995 and honors individuals and teams who have had exceptional achievements during or after athletic competition. Individuals may be nominated and inducted four years after competing.
