Women's Tennis battle at Region IV Tournament

The College of DuPage women's tennis team traveled to Park Forest Club in Palos Hills, Illinois, for the NJCAA Region IV tournament on Oct. 10 and 11. Although some Chaps stood out, the squad was unable to advance anyone to the national tournament.

Head Coach Jim Bowers was extremely pleased with his team's effort and overall season, stating, "Even though we fell short this season, every one of our student-athletes competed hard during the tournament to the best of their abilities, but our opponents were just a bit better than us. Our Chap athletes are just kids from the local community who are playing for the love of the game, and we made great strides over the course of the season to improve our skills. It was a true joy to see the effort we put forth on the court."

Sixty-six-year-old freshman Kathy Johns, who took the court by storm this season, won her first round over Sauk Valley in a super-tiebreak and then beat Moraine for third place in No. 4 singles.

At No. 6 singles, Martina Ulloa won her first round over McHenry and placed fourth in her spot.

Bowers said, "I'm extremely proud of Kathy and Martina to beat players who will be representing our region at the nationals next semester. That shows we are making progress over the course of the season, and with our young team of all freshman, I know we will continue to work during the offseason to get ready for 2026."
