College of DuPage created a late flurry in its season opener at Anne Arundel on March 28, scoring a pair of goals in the final 75 seconds but could not break through in a 6-5 loss in NJCAA men's lacrosse in Arnold, Md.

Henry McEachen scored first-quarter goals with
Tanner Polep assisting in the opener as COD and the Riverhawks were tied at 2-2.

Trailing 3-2 entering the third quarter, Michael Saccomanno scored on a feed from
Lorenzo Digiacinto with 47 seconds remaining and COD trailed 4-3.

Anne Arundel pushed the lead to 6-3 with 4:04 left before
Isaiah Garcia and Jones scored in the final minutes.

COD out-shot its hosts, 48-35. The Chaps were 7 of 15 on face offs and had 38 ground balls to the Riverhawks' 26.

Michael Olas faced 20 shots and produced 14 saves in his 60 minutes in the net.

Howard 16, Chaparrals 11
A four-goal third period put the visiting Chaparrals within closing distance, but host Howard answered back with four goals in the fourth and handed the Chaps a 16-11 loss in Columbia, Md., on Sunday.

Michael Saccomano Isaiah Garcia and
Bennett Jones each scored two goals for the Chaps, and
Tanner Polep led in assists with two.

COD totaled 33 shots with 24 on goal.

COD trailed 9-6 at halftime and scored twice in the opening five minutes of the third, on goals from
Cole Copersmet and Jones. Howard answered with consecutive goal to push the lead 11-8.

The Chaps got to within one of the lead on Jones' final goal, arriving at 6:51 in the third.

Olas had 16 saves in his 60 minutes.
