The Chaparrals' efforts at the two-day, 36-hole Augustana Viking Classic leave head coach
Jason Hyatt optimistic as it nears postseason.
Â
COD featured all five players with scores in the 70s in the first round as they went on to finish sixth in the four-year college tourney.
Â
Nathan Kwiatkowski tied for sixth at 146 after rounds of 72 and 74 on the par 72, 6,671-yard Highland Spring Municipal in Rock Island.
Sam Durkin tied for eighth (76-71_147) and
Luke Pringle broke through the top 25, finishing 25
th at 153 (75-78).
Â
COD competes Friday at Rock Valley and begins Region 4 play in Dixon on Sunday and Monday.
Â
"After our great start, we couldn't quite get the putts to fall in the second round,'' head coach
Jason Hyatt said. "Sam shot his career tournament low in the opening round.  Sam finished well in his second round and kept himself in play the entire round, taking advantage of his opportunities to make birdies. Nathan continued his stellar play this spring with another top-10 finish.  Sonni played well the first round and Luke continued with his consistent play as of late.''
