Chaps roll to NJCAA title

Stars and depth made all the difference as College of DuPage stakes its claim at the top of the NJCAA Division III women's track and field.

The Chaps rolled over the competition in Utica, N.Y., during the three-day championship. They grabbed the lead on Day 1 and walked away with the title with 174 points Saturday afternoon.

Harper was a distance second with 95 and Mineral Area (Mo.) third (84.5).

Twelve Chaps earned a total of 22 All-American honors with sophomore Ellie Logsdon earning outstanding female honors.

"The strength of our team was clearly in our numbers,'' head coach Mallory Dominguez said. "Our depth served us well all three days. We competed very hard and our women are extremely deserving of the title. They were committed all season long. This weekend proved it.''

The Genoa native clearly was the star of the event, winning three individual titles — 100, 400, 400 hurdles — and legs on winning 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 relay teams.

Sophomore Carmen Solis won both the 800 and 1500 and ran on the winning 4 x 800 relay.

Sophomore hammer thrower Teegan Roach got the ball rolling Thursday when she won the event.

All five of Logsdon's titles occurred on the final day

All told, COD scored points in 17 of 22 events, scoring more than 10 points in eight — 100, 400, 800, 1500, 5,000, 10,000, 400 hurdles and hammer. The Chaps totaled six individual titles and all three relays.

The 400 hurdles contingent of Logsdon (first), Allison Browne (third) and Olivia Brach (fourth) totaled 21 team points, the most points accumulated by a team in any one event in the meet.

Earning runner-up status were Solis (1500), high jumper Adriana Villanova.

Joining Browne for a third-place effort was freshman Alison Pasdiora in the 10,000.

The team title was COD's first since 2022 and the seventh overall.

Dominguez earned coach of the meet honors.
