Sophomore All-Americans
Ellie Logsdon and
Carmen Solis have the credentials to back up their stellar spring seasons as COD opens the NJCAA Division III women's track and field championship Thursday in Utica, N.Y.
Logsdon brings the best times in four individual events — the 100, 200, 400 and 400 hurdles — and runs on the top 4 x 100 relay. Solis holds down the best in the 800 and 5000 and is No. 2 in the 1500.
Those two figure to be in the spotlight and factor in COD's chase for its first NJCAA team title since 2022 and the seventh in school history.
COD will be represented in 17 individual events and three relays. Ten of those events have the Chaparrals ranked no lower than third and that bodes well in showing their considerable depth.
Logsdon helped COD to a runner-up finish a year ago after winning the 200 and 400 hurdles. She also ran on the winning 4 x 100 relay, and finished second in the 100 and 400. This season she established the school record in the 400 hurdles (1:01.71) and holds a nearly five-second advantage over her nearest competition (Hannah Wagner, Onondoga CC, 1:06.54)
Solis finished third in the 1500 in 2024 and ran on the third-place 4 x 400 relay.
Returning All-Americans include:
Fonida Khamissi (4 x 100 relay) and
Molly Morris (4 x 100, 4 x 400 relays).
Freshman
Adriana Villanova is seeded third in the high jump at
 1.53 m (5-0 ¼) and freshmanÂ
Olivia Brach third in the 400 hurdles (69.78).
The latest USTFCCCA rankings has COD seeded first by a wide margin. Its rating index is 834.09 with the nearest competitor Mineral Area (Mo.) at 464.69.
