Nathan Kwiatkowski fired a 1-under-par 71 during Thursday's third round of the NJCAA Division III men's golf championship in Chautauqua, N.Y.
 
Kwiatkowski's effort, now T7 at 221 (5-over) helped the Chaparrals to maintain their third-place position entering Friday's final round at Chautauqua GC.
 
COD has 910 strokes, 15 behind second-place Georgia Military and 26 strokes better than fourth-place Niagara County.
 
Sam Durkin (75-75-78_228) is in 12^th place at 12-over and Luke Pringle is T16 at 15-over (80-76-75_231). Matt Sims fired a third-round 74 and is T22 (82-79-74_235) and Anthony Regimand T24 at 20-over (79-77-80_236).
 
Defending champion Sandhills holds a commanding 29-stroke lead over Georgia Military. It is led by leader Vegas Melen, who fired a third-round 69 and is at 209, 7-under for the tourney.
