Blankenship sets PR as Women's Cross Country opens season

The College of DuPage Women's Cross Country team opened their season on Friday night at the St. Francis Twilight race at Channahon Park in Joliet. Although the Chaps were missing two key contributors to the squad, the four athletes that did run put on an impressive performance.

The Chaps effort was paced by Jessica Balmer, who finished 13th overall in the race with an impressive time of 19:58 for the 3.1 mile race. Freshman Elena Korsong had a great debut performance as well, running the race in 22:05.

The highlight of the evening was sophomore Sam Blankenship, who started with the season strong with a personal record of 22:50. Bri Pellegrini wrapped up the Chaps effort on the evening with a time of 25:04.

The Chaps look forward to running a full squad in their next race, which will at the Aurora College Spartan Classic at Northwestern Medicine XC course in Geneva on Saturday, Sept 13th at 10:00 AM.
