The College of DuPage softball team traveled to Palatine for a doubleheader versus the Hawks of Harper College on March 29. DuPage took game one 11-3, before winning a wild extra-inning nightcap that featured 45 combined runs, earning the sweep with a 23-22 victory.
In game one, Lana Edkin went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate and drove in one run. Julia Colorato and Ashley Plzak each added two hits, with Colorato driving in three runs. The Chaps totaled 12 hits in the five-inning win.
Isabella Andrade pitched all five innings and impressed in the circle, striking out seven.
Game two turned into an offensive showcase, as DuPage erupted for 26 hits in the seven-inning extra-inning contest. Ava Forsberg led the charge with five hits, while Colorato and Olivia Vasak each recorded four. Edkin and Plzak added three hits apiece, and Ximena Banuelos and Aliyah Heredia both contributed two hits for the Chaps.
Angelina Tuminello saw the majority of the action in the circle, pitching 3.2 innings and recording one strikeout.
On March 30, DuPage traveled to Wauwatosa, Wisconsin for a doubleheader against Bryant & Stratton College. The Bobcats proved to be too much, earning 17-2 and 13-2 wins over the Chaparrals.
DuPage now sits at 11-13 on the season and will return home for a doubleheader against Kishwaukee College on April 4.
