Box Score 2 SPRINGFIELD — Freshman 
Bobby O'Donnell delivered a fourth-inning grand slam in just his second collegiate at-bat, but that completed the Chaparrals' scoring in their 6-4 loss to Lincoln Land Community College in the season opener Friday afternoon.
 
In the second game, the Chaparrals were dealt a 6-1 defeat.
 
The two teams will complete the three-game series at 10 a.m. Saturday with a single game.
 
Game 1: Lincoln Land 6, Chaparrals 4
COD had its first eight batters retired before 
Steven Salvino reached on a two-out hit-by-pitch in the third. Two more hit batters loaded the bases, but the Chaps remained scoreless to end the inning.
 
In the fourth, a dropped third strike, a single from 
Rocky Pascente and a walk to 
Conor Fitzgerald loaded the bases for O'Donnell. He delivered the slam on a 2-2 offering and tied the game at 4-4.
 
Lincoln Land answered with solo runs in the fourth and sixth.
 
O'Donnell had two hits, while Fitzgerald added a single in the sixth and 
Anthony Fumagalli singled in the seventh.

Nick Shelton struck out three in three innings. 
Kolten Kapusinski took the loss in one inning of relief.
 
Game 2: Lincoln Land 6, Chaparrals 1
T.J. Jaros' two-out RBI-single in the first gave the Chaps the early lead, but the Loggers halted COD from reaching third base the rest of the way in the nightcap.
 
Fumagalli led off the game with a walk, and four batters later, Jaros came through on a 3-2 pitch for the run-scoring single.
 
Fumagalli, O'Donnell and 
Simon Marinelli all singled for the Chaps.

Jake Berger threw 3 1/3 innings with three strikeouts.
