An improved effort

Box Score An improved effort from the Chaparrals, thanks to Nichele Lodree's 16 points and 17 rebounds, put her team in a better position during Saturday's 54-41 loss at Triton in N4C women's play.
 
The Chaps, who lost to Triton 82-44 on Jan. 2, stayed with the Trojans through one quarter and trailed 10-9.
 
The difference was in the second quarter as Triton took command with a 17-7 advantage and led 27-16 at the break.
 
Alex Rucinski had 12 points and Jaylyn Grant, who fouled out after playing 29-plus minutes, scored nine.
 
The Chaps return to the Physical Education Center Arena on Wednesday when they take on Milwaukee Area TC. Tip is 5 p.m.
