The College of DuPage women's basketball program honored its sophomores before a Region 4 contest against the South Suburban College Bulldogs on Tuesday, Feb. 17; the last game inside PEC Arena this year for the Chaparrals.
 
COD held a slim 12-10 lead after ten minutes of action, which saw the duo of Erin Brown and Jamie Hasemann knock down multiple baskets. Ayaani Gusman and Lexi Lopez added to the scoring from the free throw line.
 
Pryor took the lid off the cup from distance in the second quarter, while Aylin Lagunas joined the scoring for DuPage with two baskets from inside the paint. SSC was able to find their rhythm from deep as well, capping an 18-9 quarter advantage for the Bulldogs to go up by seven into the half, 28-21.
 
Brown would score the first three Chaps field goals in the third quarter, including a breakaway layup coaxed by a Gusman steal. However, SSC stayed consistent, building its lead to as many as 16 points before COD responded with two Lagunas makes from the stripe and a buzzer-beating layup from Lopez after she induced a steal. 
 
Entering the fourth down 49-37, the final ten minutes saw successful old-fashioned three-point plays from both Brown and Gusman. Gusman became the hot hand in the frame, also knocking down a shot from beyond the arc to inch COD to within striking distance. 
 
A 12-3 run which saw another Gusman make from three-point range brought DuPage to within one possession, down 52-49. The Bulldogs would tighten up with five minutes to go, ending the contest on a 12-7 run themselves with timely makes inside the arc and at the charity stripe to secure a 66-56 road victory.
 
Brown led DuPage (8-21) with 21 points, while Gusman was the only other Chap in double digits with 11. 
 
COD ends the season on the road at McHenry County College on Saturday, Feb. 21 with tip-off scheduled for 1 p.m.
