Box Score 2 The No. 6-ranked Chaparrals opened their 2022 season with a split, losing to Division 2 Madison 7-0, before answering back with a 10-4 win over Milwaukee Area TC at the N4C Dome Tourney in Rosemont.

The Chaps take on Waubonsee and Rock Valley on Thursday and wrap-up the tourney with games against Joliet and Sauk Valley on Saturday.

The Chaps received base hits — both singles — from
Kelsey Warren and
Raquel Procopio, but fell behind early against Wolf Pack ace Casey Fountain, who had 11 strikeouts and did not issue a walk.

Elena Stevenson earned the start and threw 5 1/3 innings. She had four strikeouts.
Paige Jahaske struck out one in 1 2/3 innings.

The Chaps, who trailed 2-0 in the first, rallied and scored runs in each inning to win going away against the Stormers.

Kelsey Warren led the Chaps with four hits and scored three runs with two RBI. Both Procopio and Jahaske each had three hits with two RBI apiece.

Leading 7-3, the Chaps put the game out of reach with a three-run, four-hit sixth.

Chloe Warren earned the win, throwing 4 innings and striking out four while issuing two walks. Stevenson struck out four in three innings of relief.
