COD made its season debut a no-doubter, grabbing an early lead and defeating visiting Richard Daley 67-19 in NJCAA women's basketball Thursday night.
 
Iwiyisi Osaghe led COD with 13 points and Delmarea Wilis and Autumn Rohde each scored 10 as the Chaps grabbed an 18-7 lead through the first quarter and never trailed. They outscored the Bulldogs 31-6 in the second half.
 
Savannah Anderson and Madeline Maracich each grabbed nine rebounds for COD, which totaled 51 boards.
 
Willis scored her 10 points off the bench in just 16 minutes of play.

Waubonsee 55, Chaparrals 54
Teegan Roach scored 12 points with 14 rebounds, and Sierra Gibson added 11 points, but it wasn't enough as host Waubonsee hung on for a 55-54 Region 4 victory Saturday afternoon.
 
The Chaps, who fell to 1-1 overall, play at Sauk Valley on Tuesday, before returning home Thursday against Moraine Valley.
 
The Chiefs built a 29-19 lead at halftime before COD outplayed their opponent in the second half. The Chaparrals rallied, outscoring WCC 35-26 in the final half.
 
COD's outscored the Chiefs 21-6, thanks to production from Savannah Anderson (eight points) and Sarah Topps with six.
 
Nineteen turnovers proved costly for COD in the defeat.
