Southwestern Michigan 61, Chaparrals 49

Sophomore Sierra Gibson led COD with 16 points and Delmarea Willis added eight, but visiting Southwestern Michigan struck with a pivotal run to start the second half and dealt the Chaps a 61-49 loss in junior college women's basketball Thursday night.
 
The Chaps, now 3-6 overall, play at Elgin on Saturday. Tipoff is 1 p.m.
 
COD never led, but remained tight with the Roadrunners and trailed 32-26 at halftime.
 
But Southwestern Michigan pulled away with a 17-6 run in the first 4:27 of the third quarter and remained out front for the remainder of the game.
 
Iwiyisi Osaghae scored seven. No other Chap scored more than four points.
 
Cameron Thomas led the Roadrunners (9-1) with 18 points and Ariana Lemons with 10.
