The Chaparral finished the 2023 portion of their schedule by outplaying visiting Oakton in the final three quarters in a 48-37 loss on Dec. 21.
 
Led by Sierra Gibson's 16 points, COD (3-10, 2-9 Region 4) outscored the Owls 33-32 in the final 30 minutes of play after trailing 16-4 after one quarter.
 
Teega Roach had eight points and Iwiysi Osaghae had four. No other Chap scored more than three points.
 
Carl Sandburg 87, Chaparrals 52
Teegan Roach scored 11 points and Sierra Gibson followed with 10, but host Carl Sandburg took complete control in the second half in its 87-52 win on Dec. 16.
 
The Chaps trailed by seven at halftime (35-28), but Carl Sandburg outscored the Chaps 52-24 in the final 20 minutes.
