Sophomore Day came at the right time for the Chaparrals, who snapped their four-game losing streak with a one-sided 83-60 victory over Wilbur Wright in Region 4 women's basketball Saturday afternoon.

The Chaps (5-14, 5-11 Region 4) travel to Madison, Wis., on Tuesday to take on Madison College (1-18). Tipoff is 5:30 p.m.

Sierra Gibson capped off an unbelievable week of play, leading the Chaps with 27 points, eight rebounds and six steals, and teammate
Savannah Anderson also reached the 20-point strata with 24 points, 12 rebounds and three assists.

COD trailed just once and that came in the first minute of play. The Chaps led 19-13 after the first quarter and took a 37-25 halftime lead.

The final margin was the Chaps' largest lead of the game.

COD shot 48 percent from the field on 30 of 63 shooting. The Chaps had 21 assists and grabbed 18 steals with five blocks.

COD nearly overcame a 20-point deficit in the final quarter of play, but fell short in a 71-70 loss at Malcolm X on Jan. 18.

Anderson led the Chaps with 19 points and 10 rebounds, and
Sarah Topps scored 13.
Autumn Rohde was the only other Chap in double figures with 10 points.
