The Chaparrals trailed early against visiting Carl Sandburg and never caught up in a 51-37 Region 4 women's basketball Dec. 20 that closed the first half of play in 2024-25.
 
COD (7-8, 7-6 Region 4) resumes play Jan. 4 against visiting Prairie State. Game time is 1 p.m. at PEC Arena.
 
The Chaps and Chargers competed in the first half with Carl Sandburg owning a 21-19 halftime lead. However, COD was outscored 18-6 in the third quarter and couldn't make a run at the lead.
 
Three Chaps shared game-high honors of five points — Makenna Brown, Aubrey Weems and Cailey Salerno. COD fired just 16 percent from the floor on 12 of 74 shooting.

The game was tied just once with one lead change, both in the first quarter.
 
Sophomore Teegan Roach led in rebounds with 10, her seventh double-figure effort this season.
