Chaps go to town in the second half

College of DuPage overpowered host Elgin in the second half of Thursday's game, winning 57-45 in Region 4 women's basketball.
 
The Chaps improved to 4-6 overall and snapped their two-game losing streak. They take on Waubonsee on Thursday. Tip is 5:30 p.m.
 
Trailing 25-21 at halftime, the Chaps struck with an impressive 23-10 advantage in the third quarter to wipe out the deficit and claim their second victory over the Spartans this season.
 
Sophomore Megan Martinez led all scorers with 23 points on 7 of 20 shooting, including 6 of 16 on 3-pointers. Madeline Maracich was next with nine points. Makenna Brown added eight off the bench.
 
Both Jaylen Zachary and Maracich had 11 rebounds each.
