Sierra Gibson led COD with 20 points, and Savanna Anderson added eight points and 10 rebounds, but host and No. 3-seed Milwaukee Area TC grabbed control for good in the third quarter and defeated the No. 6 seed Chaparrals 67-52 in the NJCAA Region 4 Midwest District A women's basketball quarterfinals Wednesday night.

The Chaps, who trailed 32-27 at halftime, matched up well early in the third quarter. They opened on an 8-2 run, grabbing the lead on a Gibson jumper that put the Chaps up 35-34 with 8:03 left.

Gibson then gave COD its final lead of the night on another jumper, at 40-38 with 4:45 to go in the quarter.

The Stormers pushed back and finished on an 11-4 run for a 49-44 lead through three, and then extended the lead to as many as 17 points in the fourth.

Foul trouble plagued the Chaps, who committed 24 fouls to MATC's 14.

The Chaps (10-20 overall) fired 31.9 percent from the floor (22 of 69 FGs) and were hampered by 26 turnovers.

Teegan Roach and
Nala Taylor both contributed seven points. No other Chap scored more than three.

Sarah Topps each had three steals.
