Softball take three

The Chaparrals earned a .500 record over the weekend, taking a pair from Harper, earning a split against Carl Sandburg and losing two against Rock Valley.
 
COD (9-12 overall) is off until Friday when it plays at South Suburban
 
Rock Valley 25-13, Chaparrals 11-5 (Friday)
  • In the opener, the Golden Eagles put the game out of reach with a 12-run fifth
  • Raenda Del Angel hit a pair of home runs and drove in three runs
  • Lindsey Onnezi also homered and drove in three
  • Del Angel was the only Chap with a mulit-hit game
  • In the second, COD totaled six hits with Abigail Collins and Del Angel each adding a double
  • Danielle Whitman tripled
  • Del Angel led the Chaps with two RBI
 
Chaparrals 14-19, Harper 9-17 (Saturday)
  • Leading 8-7 in the opener, COD took control with a six-run sixth and held on for the victory
  • Cadee Baker doubled twice and tripled
  • Olivia Terek and Raenda Del Angel each homered
  • Taylor Gloms, Del Angel and Lindsey Onnezi each doubled
  • Taylor Gloms went four innings, striking out four for the win
  • Terek threw three innings of relief, striking out three
  • In the second, COD totaled 19 runs on 15 hits
  • Abigail Collins drove in a personal-best six runs with a 3-for-5 effort that included a homer
  • Not to be out-done, Del Angel hit two bombs and also had a six-RBI game

  • In the opener, the Chaps dominated by scoring seven runs in both the first and fourth innings in a game called after five
  • Cadee Baker tripled and Yuliana Salgado doubled
  • The Chaps totaled 13 RBI, with Lindsey Onnezi's three leading
  • Maddison Leftridge enjoyed a perfect 4-for-4 effort at the plate
  • Abigail Collins went 3-for-3
  • Taylor Gloms struck out three in three innings
  • Olivia Terek threw two innings and struck out one
  • The second game was called after five innings
  • Danielle Whitman went 2-for-3 with three RBI
