The Chaparrals had their six-game winning end Thursday afternoon, losing both ends of a doubleheader to visiting Kankakee, 4-2 and 11-4 in Region 4 play.

COD (13-15, 10-12 Region 4) completed a stretch of 13 games in 10 days and now prepares for Saturday's doubleheader Milwaukee Area Tech.

Game 1: Kankakee 4, Chaparrals 2
- Kankakee scored three runs in the first on three unearned runs
- In the second, Michael Morgan's two-out, two-run double, scored Vinny Spotofora (single) and Joe Pender (walk) and cut the lead to 3-2
- The Chaps totaled five hits — two from Morgan and Hudson Williams (single) and Pender (double)
- Starter Aiden Pieniazek threw 4 2/3 innings, striking out three, walking three and scattering five hits — all four runs were unearned

Game 2: Kankakee 11, Chaparrals 4
- The Cavaliers repeated their first-game scoring efforts, taking a 3-0 lead in the first before COD had a chance to swing a bat
- Down 6-0, COD answered with consecutive RBI-singles from Joe Pender and Michael Morgan in the second
- The Chaps scored once in the fourth (Morgan RBI single) and in the sixth (Williams RBI single)
- Morgan went 3-for-3 with two RBI
- All eight hits were singles
- Mark Mennecke took the loss, striking out one and issuing three walks in 2 innings
- Reliever Michael Tuman threw 2 2/3 innings (one strikeout) and Joey Vandermeir went 2 1/3 innings (two strikeouts)
