Hits keep coming in 7th straight win

College of DuPage extended its season-best winning streak to seven games and became winners in 16 of its last 19 with a 21-8 rout over visiting Morton College that was called after seven innings Tuesday.
 
Sophomore Filip Milatovic drove in seven runs, thanks to consecutive three-run doubles in the fifth and sixth innings, and freshman RHP Troy Vosburgh (1-0 overall) gave the Chaps five quality innings in his first start of the season.
 
COD (23-16, 20-13 Region 4) travels to Lake County today in a 9-inning game, and then closes out the regular season at home with a 9-inning game vs. Oakton (Thursday) and a doubleheader Saturday against Sauk Valley.
 
Morton dropped to 35-16, 25-13 and play NJCAA Division II.

  • No. 9 hitter Jake Pauley tied the game at 2-2 on a two-run single in the second
  • COD sent 10 to the plate in the third, scoring seven runs on five hits
  • Aden Aukland's two-run single got the inning
  • Milatovic, who went 3-for-5 with three doubles, got his first RBI-double in the third, scoring Joe Pender, who led off with a walk
  • Hudson Williams added an RBI-double in the inning
  • Mark Mennecke, who went 3-for-3 with four runs scored, earned his third single in four innings and scored on Michael Morgan's two-out single in the fourth
  • Quinn Flanagan (walk), Pender (hit by pitch) and Mennecke (walk) set the table for Milatovic's first three-run double in the fifth
  • In the sixth, COD scored six runs on five hits and sent 11 to the plate
  • Milatovic connected on a two-out, three-run double to cap the inning
  • Vosburgh danced through some early trouble, but came through and ate up five innings
  • The RHP struck out three, walked two and scattered eight hits
  • Vosburgh entered the day having thrown just 3 2/3 innings on the season
  • Williams and Pauley joined Milatovic and Mennecke with three-hit games
  • Aukland and Morgan each had two hits
  • Time of the game was 2 hours, 14 minutes
