NJCAA Region 4 top seed and No. 15-ranked College of DuPage broke out from a scoreless tie in Saturday's game against Waubonsee, scoring two runs in the sixth, and then five runs in the seventh in the Chaparrals' 8-0 semifinal eight-inning win Saturday.

The victory puts the host and tourney unbeaten Chaparrals (28-16 overall) into Sunday's championship against Oakton. First pitch is 11 a.m. and should a second game become necessary, it will follow 30 minutes upon conclusion of Game 1.

COD enters Sunday having won 12 straight and 21 of its last 24 games. The Chaps defeated Oakton 10-2 in seven innings in the tourney's opening-round Friday,

Chaparrals 8, Waubonsee 0 8 innings
- RHP Eddie Scaccia gave COD a strong effort on the mound, throwing six innings, striking out eight, issuing three walks and giving up just three hits
- Reliever Michael Biscan struck out two in his two innings, giving up two hits without a walk
- COD earned its two runs in the sixth, thanks to Jack Wade's two-run single that scored Quinn Flanagan (single) and Mark Mennecke (single).
- In the seventh, COD scored five runs on six hits
- Flanagan led at the plate, going 4-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored
- Flanagan delivered a one-out, walk-off single in the eighth, scoring Hudson Williams, who led off the inning with a single
- Wade finished with three RBI and three hits
- Williams and Mennecke each had two hits
