COD captured the title Monday afternoon, earning a 640 total (315-325) during windy conditions at the Prairieview Golf Club in Byron (par-72, 7,158 yards). Rock Valley College finished second (651) and Joliet Junior College third (711) in the three-team tournament.
Â
The team title was COD's fifth straight, 23
rd in COD history and the 12
th under Hyatt.

The Chaps held a 14-stroke lead after 18 holes and used the lead to their advantage.

"Our guys really fought through and didn't let the pressure get to them,'' Hyatt said.

Four Chaparrals earned All-Region 4 honors, led by runner-up
Hagan Rank, who carded a 36-hole 155 and forced a playoff after sinking an 18-foot birdle on the 36
th hole.

RVC's Griffin Smits was the medalist in the playoff.

Jakob Schmidt was third (80-81_161),
Anthony Regimand fifth (80-83_163) and
Sam Sager sixth (82-82_164).

"The guys found a way to get the job done and that's what matters,'' said Hyatt, who earned his 12
th Region 4 Coach of the Year honor. "Overall, we'll continue to work on our games and and we've got a few more weeks to prepare and improve before nationals.''

Luke Pringle fired a second-round 85, and teammate
Emilio Bedon's 79 occurred in Round 1.

COD now prepares for the NJCAA championship, June 4-7 at Chautauqua, N.Y.
