Chaps' late surge pays off, 68-64

College of DuPage used a 13-2 run in the final 4:53 of play Thursday night and defeated host Bryant and Stratton 68-64 in Region 4 women's basketball.
 
Down 62-55, the Chaparrals received a pair of 3s from Megan Martinez and Jaylen Zachary to pull within three, 64-61. Martinez added another three to tie the game with two minutes left.
 
Sophomore Makenna Brown's jumper with 1:10 left gave the Chaps (10-9, 10-7 Region 4) the lead for good. Madison Dubiel drained a pair of free throws with 3.6 seconds left for the final margin.
 
COD led 36-25 at halftime before the Bobcats (9-8, 4-3) rallied in the third, tying the game at 50-50 entering the final quarter.
 
The victory extends COD's winning streak to three as it plays Prairie State (12-6, 11-6) on Saturday. Tip off is 10 a.m.
