Hosting the Oakton College Owls in a battle of birds inside PEC Arena, the College of DuPage Chaparrals couldn't match the quick-tempo, press-heavy Owl approach and dropped a Region 4 match, 83-64 on Tuesday, Nov. 18.
Lexi Lopez scored nine of the team's 14 first-quarter points, including a three-pointer.
Kaisje Pryor added another shot from beyond the arc in the first ten minutes. After one quarter, COD trailed 25-14.
Erin Brown led with multiple baskets in the second quarter, scoring on three close shots while Pryor nailed another three-ball.
Saniyya Harvey added an extra four points in the frame before the half, where COD trailed 44-32.Â
Ayaani Gusman joined the scoring brigade in the second half with four baskets in the third quarter, including a three-pointer and a successful three-point play. Pryor laced her third three-pointer of the contest in the third quarter as well. Entering the final ten minutes, Oakton led 71-51.Â
The Owls held a comfortable lead down the stretch, closing out to a 83-64 victory on the road.Â
Lopez led all Chaps with 17 points on the night; Gusman and Brown also finished in double-digits with 13 and 10, respectively.
COD (1-3) travels to Richard J. Daley College on Saturday, Nov. 22 for a 1pm contest. Since 2013, the Chaps are undefeated in eight contests against the Bulldogs.
